Originally used in Persia, the paisley became part of India’s textile design in the post-Mughal era. In the 19th century, it found its way to the west through the export of Kashmiri shawls. Popularized again by the flower-power generation in the 60’s, including the Beatles, this motif is still used in its original form in the Kashmiri silk sarees. Exotic, elegant and a must-have in every lady’s wardrobe.
